Located at 128 East 7th Street this gem hits the spot for me! The interior decor transports out of the city and to the islands of Greece! I started with the stuffed grape leaves and saganaki (cheese melted) which were very tasty but for me the star of the evening was the Arni Kotsi Me Meli, Me Mikra Psita Lahanika or the fall off the bone, perfectly seasoned Cretan honey braised lamb shank with roasted baby potatoes and carrots! This dish hit me to my core and had me thinking about it weeks after devouring it. For dessert I topped it off with delectable buttery phyllo triangles filled with greek custard and drizzled with cinnamon and greek mountain honey. They definitely finished off the night with a lightly sweetened flavor complimenting the cinnamon and custard. This place to me is a go to when I just want to go on a mini vacation but only have a few hours to spare!

The food at Pylos was amazing! We got the braised lamb and wild stripe bass. Both so good. The lamb was so tender. Really enjoyed the pistachio pesto on the fish. Service was a bit on the slower side but it was a busy Friday night. Really nice decor and ambiance.

I made a reservation for dinner and things got a bit delayed because hello it's a Friday, but they are all very welcoming to have it move a bit later. That was a very good customer service already. Then we got there and wow they were all nice and warm like they knew you but this is our first time and we were really amazed. Our server was Tamari (i hope a heard and spelled it right) she was terrific, attentive but not pushy and makes you feel like you're at home. Overall this was one the best places you want to check for good food ( perfect octopus, lamb!, good wine; so light and fruity compliments the lamb and the Moussaka was a great meal, that sauce was amazing! I am happy we got that place as our birthday date as it was cozy ambiance wrapped everything up. Thank you

Another stellar birthday dinner at Pylos! Right after we ordered, a covered plate of warm pita pieces and a hummus-like dip were brought to the table. Very tasty. We started with horiatiki, our favorite Greek salad. Here it is a substantial bowl of cukes, tomatoes, red onion, with 4 large triangles of feta and ample Greek olives (kalamata, I think). Delish! We had also a hot appetizer, the gigante beans in a dill-accented rich tomato sauce, and this evening I thought those beans were really big ones. As always they were cooked to the perfect texture, soft but not mushy, and the sauce we were spooning up! These were quite filling, and we each had a glass of wine (red for him, white for me), so we decided to share the Lavraki entree. It's a solid piece of firm light fish, served over a "cake" of eggplant and some kind of cream or cheese, very good. I cut it in half and we each wound up with a small but satisfying chunk of it. Oh, the fish is covered with chopped pistachios. Did we want dessert? We were full but it's both of our birthdays within the past 6 days, so yes, why not!? We shared what they call "Christos' Towering Galaktobourekakia." This was 3 phyllo triangles filled with Greek custard, served on a plate with powdered sugar sprinkled around and lots of sumptuous Greek honey on and around. SO good! And it was brought to the table with a birthday candle; our server wished us a happy birthday but thankfully no tacky group of singing waitstaff! Took us just under an hour to walk the 50 blocks home (some of it uphill) and I'm sure I could still work off some of the calories, but definitely worth every single one! We've been coming to Pylos for several years; it's our "special occasion" place. We have never ever been disappointed!

One of my favorites while craving Greek food. The staff is always so courteous and welcoming. They have a great wine list, with pretty rare grape varietals. In almost all my visits to Pylos, I have never ordered a main course - instead made a meal out of apps. Some of my favorites are the dip trio, halloumi with grilled grapes, zucchini and eggplant chips and the artichoke bake. Another plus for Pylos is that despite being so popular and good, it's not crazy to find reservations unlike most other good restaurants in NYC.

Enjoyed an exceptional meal at Pylos! Definitely would recommend it! Food, atmosphere and service were all top! Normally we go out to Astoria for great Greek, however having decided to stay in town for the evening looked online at the options beyond those Manhattan Greek spots we've dined at over the years. Found Pylos and booked a table. Relatively narrow and long with different spaces, we were seated in the far back half, but that was more than OK. Surprisingly, everyone else was seated up front. Our shared appetizers included the fresh tasty Horiatiki classic Greek village salad, scrumptious Dolmathes avgolemono (i.e., beef, rice, raisin, and pine nut stuffed grape leaves covered in an egg lemon sauce) and the winner, a special - octopus carpaccio with fennel and arugula. Accompanying these, Pylos offered pita bread with a chickpea spread. While one of us selected Moussaka, my entreé was their Agrio lavraki me krousta apo pistachios - pistachio encrusted chunks of stripe bass filet topping a vegetable Napoleon incorporating a pistachio pesto and sheep milk cheese. Delightful and filling especially after our early round of starters, this fish dish left no room for dessert! Would certainly look forward to returning to Pylos for another memorable meal.

Great ambiance where it was lively but not loud, classy but not stuffy, casual but still refined. I loved our corner cushioned seat in the front dining area. There's also an inner dining area adjacent to the front that is also intimate. Food was high quality, tasty and service was impeccable. We ordered a variety - the feta, avgolemeno soup, octopus, moussaka and pastitsio dishes. Everything was delicious. Even the complimentary pita with dip pre-meal. Wine was served in glass goblets which was a pleasant aesthetic.

The best Greek food there is in New York City. I was absolutely blown away by how delicious these dishes where I felt like it was a mix of Greek and Italian hints. The service overall was incredible and our waitress was working so hard to make sure our dinner was enjoyable. We did have the first reservation of the evening and the restaurant was not warmed up so if I could ask the owner to preheat the restaurant, at least an hour before eight that would be great. I don't like sitting there shivering waiting for the facility to warm up. It's not right. The shrimp was extremely fresh, but I'd like to mention the incredible wine list that they have that is imported directly from Greece. The drinks were nice and strong, and all of us really enjoyed having dinner here.

TLDR: The Lamb is a must try at this spot! The spicy pepper stuffed whipped feta dip was a flavor and texture sensation that set the tone for an exceptional meal. The combination of spiciness and the creamy feta whipped to perfection was a true delight for the taste buds. The main course featured beautifully cooked lamb that showcased the chef's skill and expertise. The meat was tender, and the accompanying sauce was a perfect pairing, enhancing the overall dining experience.
